Why It’s a Good Idea to Have Your Celebrant as Your Master of Ceremonies

Your celebrant is the first person that your guests will see on your wedding day. Your celebrant is that person in control. That person in charge that makes things happen. In fact, without a celebrant there IS no marriage.

So why is it a good idea to also have your celebrant as your master of ceremonies (MC) for your reception as well?

Exactly for the reason in the first paragraph. Your guests are already familiar with this person. They have heard them speak, paid attention to their directions and have (on some level) become familiar with this person.

Therefore, it makes sense to continue to have this same person to be the same familiar face to be that person that is in charge of your reception. This way your guests are not fatigued by having yet another face to get to know and listen to.

Having already established during your ceremony that they are the person in charge, it’s a natural progression to again see this same person as your MC. I find when I am the celebrant and the MC, it is much easier to gain the attention of guests. I have done many weddings were I am the MC only, and that is fine, but when I am also the celebrant I have already broken the ice with guests.

When I am the MC as well, I also make sure I continue to connect with your guests during the canape time whilst the wedding party are away getting photos by connecting with them and chatting to them during capapes.

Additionally, when I am your MC as well as celebrant, we have already come to know each other very well though our progress meetings so I am capable of ensuring my duty as MC is personalised to you and your personalities.

Hiring a professional MC gives your friends and family the ability to relax and enjoy your reception without giving them the stress of also trying to run your night and keep everything on time.

A good MC does MUCH more than just introduce speakers and let your guests know what is going on. A good MC will work hard for you behind the scenes communicating with all your other vendors (photographer, videographer, venue staff, catering staff and DJ) to keep them in the loop of what is happening and when.

I have attended many weddings when I have seen a family member or friend act as MC and watched painfully as the entire event came unravelled. Announcements made before photographers were even there to capture the moment, MCs that have been too busy chatting to friends and family to pay attention to the timeline creating a domino effect where everything happened too late and sadly, MCs that had more interest in drinking their share of the bar tab and getting to the point of becoming so drunk they couldn’t speak or saying completely inappropriate things.

I provide a fun atmosphere for you and your guests as master of ceremonies whilst maintaining professionalism to ensure everything happens on time and take control of situations should something go wrong to keep things running smoothly.

I have had extensive training as a professional Master of Ceremonies though many industry leaders in this field including Mark Ferrell from the United States completing MarBecca method in professional Master of Ceremonies as well as many others from around the world. I have also been the president of the Toastmasters International professional MC club engaging in weekly meetings to continue to hone my skills.

If you are looking for someone you can truly trust to keep your night on track, provide a fun and engaging atmosphere and create a night you and your guests will never forget I would love to be considered.

Warmly,
